These were a set of A4 sized books that I produced
from the writing of David Muscat, the co-ordinator of the Division of
Basic Skills at MCAST. The books' editing and production was co-ordinated
by Charles Mifsud, head of the Arts and Languages in Education
Department at the Faculty of Education, University of Malta.
Admittedly this was a massive
body of work that had to be done in a relatively short time. But it
was worth it. The project was part of a Division of Education
initiative to create tailor-made materials for the teaching of Maltese
to adults. The whole thing was part-funded by the European Union.
Book one (Inhaddmu Lsienna
- Using our Language) is in full colour and is 132 pages long. Book
two (Nitharrgu fi Lsienna - Learning our Language) is a spiral
bound workbook, printed in black and white, and contains 168 pages.
Book three (Nghallmu Lsienna - Teaching our Language) is a
teacher's manual, printed in black and white and runs to 64 pages.
The Education Division is making the books
available to all those who teach Maltese to adults. They were launched
under the patronage of the Minister of Education in September 2006. |
